1-7-2022 Snow/Trail Update

Not much change. The temps have been down, we are holding our snow. The trails still haven’t been groomed. The forecast changes daily and hourly. It has been very frustrating to say the least. Seems like all the snow keeps going around us. We have gotten an inch here and there, but still not enough to groom the trails. There are still riders out there with their own sleds. The trails are still covered all around us, but thin in places. Best to stay off of Trail 4 north of us. It is pretty rocky yet, need more snow to cover those rocks. South probably has the better snow, down by Mallo Camp, Trail 11, 12, and 12b.

Forest Service guys stopped in yesterday and said that there is about a foot of snow north of us where they were burning slash piles.

There is snow in the forecast, little bits here and there. Looks more promising for next weekend, at this point. Weather apps state that it is going to be in the 50’s below us in Rapid City, Sturgis, Spearfish (4000 feet below us), Lead (1500 feet below us). We are predicted to be in the upper 30’s and if it is over casted with no wind, that will help us even more to keep our snow.
